There has been a lot of debate about whether or not mobile phones and base stations are safe. We believe it's important that all our customers are fully aware of the facts. This leaflet explains how a mobile phone works and gives you the latest independent research findings and advice.

We take seriously our responsibility for our products with, for example, robust policies on the recycling of old handsets. The safe use of our products is also a prime concern.

Products and service stewardship is overseen by the O2 plc Executive Committee, which is our forum to discuss all business issues also those relating to social, environmental and ethical matters. Product and service stewardship is important for reducing the environmental impact and to assess the social impact of our future products and services.

How we are structured to deliver our promises

Corporate Governance describes the system by which businesses are directed and controlled. Corporate Governance tells you about the rights and responsibilities of board members, managers, shareholders and other stakeholders. At the same time, it spells out the rules and procedures for making key decisions and the management of risks that may be significant to the future of the business. The system also sets objectives for a business and describes the way these goals are to be achieved and how performance is to be monitored along the way. Objectives and goals are not solely commercial or financial. They also cover social, environmental and ethical issues.

Teach UR Mum 2 Txt campaign

Parents across the UK will soon be 'textperts' thanks to a new campaign from O2's charity of choice Milly's Fund - the charity set up by Milly Dowler's parents to raise personal safety awareness in children and young adults.

Launched on 13 October in National Personal Safety Week, 'Teach UR Mum 2 Txt', supported by
O2, aims to make parents more text savvy for easier communication with their children - and because texting is more discreet, it allows parents to stay in touch in a cool way and eliminate the embarrassment caused by phoning their children to ask where they are and what time they'll be home.

Alongside the national launch in the press, regional texting clinics will take place in UK cities to give parents and their children further texting tips:

21st-22nd November - Lakeside, Thurrock

Why not try out these five challenges to see if we've taught you to text!

1. Get your child to send you a text using common text abbreviations and decipher it

2. Turn on predictive text (if your handset has this facility) and use it to send the following text: "Will you be back later tonight?"

3. Send the same message but this time, use common text abbreviations - remember to think phonetically rather than grammatically

4. Ask your child for one of their friend's mobile numbers and add it to your phone's address book

5. Turn on reports (if your handset has this facility), send a text to your child and then open the report that you'll receive
